Friendly, quiet dogs are very welcome to join you camping and are charged at £5 per dog, for the duration of your stay. Dogs must be kept on a lead whilst onsite. Customers are responsible for their dogs at all times and are asked to please clean up after them. Irresponsible dog owners are not tolerated. There is livestock in adjacent fields so please keep dogs under control at all times.

Regrettably, dogs are not allowed in our bunk house tents or in the Lodge accommodation.

Dogs are unable to join you on any of our activity sessions, other than frisbee golf. If you are bringing a dog with you, one of your party will have to not take part in activity session to stay with the dog, or it will have to be left in a vehicle.

Fires and barbecues are what camping is all about! You are welcome to bring off ground fire pits and barbecues with you. We also have fire pits available to hire from our onsite shop. Hire is £10 per stay and this includes a fire-starter kit which includes matches, firelighters and kindling.

Firewood, kindling and firelighters are available from the shop. We kindly ask that you please do not bring firewood with you or collect from the woodland. Marshmallows are available from the shop! Perfect for toasting around the fire!

Yes, fire pits can be hired for £10 for the duration of your stay and include a basic fire lighting kit to get you started. You can add one to your booking now or pick one up when you arrive (subject to availability).

We do take a fully refundable £10 deposit on hire which must be paid by card.

We have free, high-speed wifi at our activity centre and in The Lodge. There is also a great 4G mobile connection and phone signal at the campsite.

Toilet roll is identified as a high risk touch point and so to be as clean as possible, we ask everyone to bring your own or buy from our camp shop. Please also bring your own soap. We clean our toilets and showers regularly but you are welcome to bring your own cleaning products, anti-bacterial wipes and hand gel etc.

If you are camping, you are very welcome to make the most of your final day. Please decamp and leave site by 5pm on your day of departure.

If you have booked a Bunkhouse tent or Mendip Lodge bunkroom, we will ask you to check out of your accommodation by 10am however you are welcome to stay onsite all day.

Check online to see if there are any spaces left and book for any extra guests or any extra nights. You will all be able to camp together even if you have separate bookings.

If there is no availability on the dates you are staying that unfortunately means we are at the site capacity for pitches and facilities for those dates. Unless previously agreed, we are unable to add people to your booking or extend your stay.

Every guest will receive a Basecamp wristband on arrival so we know you have booked in.

You are more than welcome to meet day guests at the activity centre, our onsite cafe-bar or on the activities you book. For security, we only allow registered guests into the campsite.

Basecamp is a very family orientated campsite and we would love for you to visit with groups of friends and families of mixed ages.

We can only accept adult-only groups if you are no more than four people and you are all over 25. Please understand that this is a family campsite and that we have a zero-tolerance towards anti-social behaviour. We have a no noise/music policy in place after 10pm.

All groups will have to meet any government guidance on socialising and group size in place at the time of your booking.

When making a booking, any campers aged 16 and above are adults

If you click on Book Now at the top of this page you'll be able to check availability live. If it lets you book then we have space and your booking will be confirmed.

We will always do our best to accommodate changes to bookings. However, weekends are extremely popular so moving your booking to a different weekend may not be possible. Please give us as much notice as possible.

We recommend you take out travel insurance to cover you should you need to cancel for medical reasons or due to a period of enforced quarantine.

If you do need to cancel your booking please let us know by email as soon as possible. Your booking will be cancelled with effect from the day we receive your email notification and subject to our standard cancellation charges:

More than 30 days notice - an administration fee of £15

14 – 30 days notice - 50% of the total booking charge

Less than 14 days or after the booking start date - 100% of the total booking charge

If you cancel your booking after the booking start date, we cannot issue any refund for any remaining nights of your booking. This does include where you need to cancel your booking for any reason outside of your reasonable control, including without limitation, inclement weather and illness. We strongly recommend you take out holiday insurance to compensate you in these circumstances.

If for whatever reason, you do not turn up on the arrival date stated on your booking confirmation, without prior notice this shall be considered a cancellation.

This would always be an absolute last resort and only if its either considered unsafe to be open or Government guidance changes and we are not permitted to operate.

We want you to book with confidence and have something to look forward to this summer. If we cannot open as planned, we will refund or rearrange all bookings.

Our risk assessments and operating procedures are continually updated in line with all government guidance and advice from our governing bodies to ensure we remain Covid secure.

Basecamp is a family campsite. If you do not have children as part of your booking, we can only accept small, adult only groups over the age of 25.

Sorry, adult only groups and groups of adults under the age of 25 are not permitted to camp here for safeguarding reasons.

Children are not permitted to camp without an adult.

All bookings must adhere to the Basecamp, family orientated rules regarding noise and behaviour.

Yes! We want to keep things as relaxed as possible so we don’t have pitches. Our camping field is massive so there will be plenty of options of where to pitch.

We want to keep an area for kids (including big kids) to be able to run around in, and obviously, we wouldn’t recommend setting up camp on any of the tracks but we will give you a map on check in to show any no-go areas.

If you are camping with friends or another family you are welcome to pitch together but please keep at least 3m between tents of the same group and 6m of tents from different parties.

Yes! We don't have pitches, just various 'zones'. It does not matter if you book at the same time or together, just find each other on-site.

Yes, you can park next to your tent. Our field and track can be quite bumpy and uneven in places so please take it steady and driving in the camping field is done so at your own risk.

We do limit vehicle movement after dark. If you’ve been out for the evening and get back after 10pm there is an overnight parking area near the entrance to the field. You can park up here for the night and walk back to your pitch.

Please always drive very carefully and with the assumption that children are playing nearby.

We have a strictly enforced, zero tolerance, 5mph speed limit.

Basecamp is a basic, off-grid camp without the facilities and services caravans and motorhomes usually expect.

Our camp can only be accessed by a steep road with a tight hairpin bend which is not ideal for towing vehicles. There is also a low, sloping bridge with a low point of 2.7m which restricts access to tall vehicles. Trailer-tents are welcome if you are confident your vehicle has the torque to get up to the camp and understand the limited facilities available.

We offer a range of activities with self-led activity prices from just £4 per person!

Activities available onsite include: frisbee golf, orienteering, tobogganing, skiing, snowboarding, archery, axe throwing, air rifles, climbing, abseiling, bushcraft, archery active, field archery and caving.

Our activity and snowsport centre is just a short woodland walk away where most of our activities take place. Our watersports site is a 15-minute drive from the campsite and our private rocksports quarry is a 15-minute drive or a beautiful 20-minute walk.

We strongly recommend booking all activities in advance as we regularly sell out of our instructor-led activities, especially during peak times.

All activities can be booked online -

Tobogganing is available for ages 4+

Our outdoor activity sessions can be run in two ways, with different minimum ages:

If you are booking individual spaces on an activity session, the minimum age is 8.

You are also able to book a session privately just for your group. If you book the session exclusively we can real the age restriction and you can bring up to four children aged 6 or 7 - everyone else must be eight or over. If you have anyone under eight in your group, at least one adult must take part.

Not at all! You are welcome to use our site as a base to explore the local area or just to enjoy the beautiful Mendip Hills. There is no obligation to book activities with us during your stay.

Yes and all our showers and toilets are individual cubicles accessed from the outside - which is great as we have no higher risk shared indoor spaces.

Toilet roll is a high risk touch point and so to be as safe as possible, we ask everyone to bring your own or buy from our camp shop. Please also bring your own soap. We clean our toilets and showers regularly but you are welcome to bring your own cleaning products, anti-bacterial wipes and hand gel etc.

To ensure we are COVID-secure our showers and toilets will be deep cleaned twice a day and regularly checked. Our showers will be open in the morning and again in the afternoon and evening. They will be closed during the middle part of the day for deep cleaning.

Yes! We have a pop-up shop in the camping field. Open every day, our shop stocks all the basic essentials, cold drinks, ice-cream, firewood, charcoal etc. We can accept both cash and card payments. Opening times will be displayed onsite

Mendip Lodge, our onsite popup pub, is a three minute walk from Basecamp, down a magical illuminated woodland path. Our bar staff have curated their favourite Somerset ales, beers and ciders from Butcombe Brewery and Thatchers Cider.

The Alpine Lounge team, our dedicated cafe team, will be setting up a canteen within the pub, serving their infamous full English breakfasts, loaded fries, jacket potatoes and stone-baked pizzas. Come and enjoy some local brews, share a pizza, find a sofa and enjoy some music or join us around the fire to watch our centre manager do some real work and lay on his inimitable northern hospitality! Fancy a ice-cold beer back at camp? We also sell cans of beer and cider in our off-license!

The Lodge is open until 10pm on Friday and Saturday nights, last food orders must be in by 9pm.

On Sunday - Thursday nights, the Lodge closes at 9pm with last food orders at 8pm.
