Glasto Vibes Were High
Basecamp was recently described on Instagram as having "Glasto vibes". @wanderingmamastreets pointed out that "Glasto vibes were high at Mendip Basecamp last weekend with its flag lined tracks & illuminated woodland walk". To be compared to the legendary Somerset festival that takes place in field near Glastonbury was a pretty great compliment to our team but what pleased us more, is that the review went onto point out that our super clean, well-stocked and zero queue toilets and showers were a world away from normal music festivals, making the site a "breeze" for family campers.

Free Festivals and Events
Whilst Somerset is mainly known for that infamous festival, there are plenty of other local festivals to be visited- many of them family-friendly and often free. Our favourites include:

  • The Bristol International Balloon Fiesta: Bristol’s legendary ballooning event takes place at Ashton Court in south Bristol 10th to 13th August 2023
  • Eat Festivals: These food & drink festivals support local West Country producers for all you foodies. Takes place throughout the year Weston-super-mare, Clevedon, Burnham-on-sea, Portishead and Bedminster.
  • Culture Weston: Culture Weston is Weston-super-mare’s amazing arts hub in collab with North Somerset Council and Arts Council England. Check out their Street Art trail and regular Super Wonder Shrine Performance.
Visitors attending these events are welcome to stay at our campsite and make their visit into a mini-break.

Free Entertainment at Basecamp
Family friendly with festival vibes is what Mendip Basecamp is all about. Live music takes place every week and was one of the key factors for us winning Silver at last year’s South West Tourism Awards. We love seeing our campers dancing and supporting local live music in our beautiful cider garden.

Circus skills take place throughout the summer and are the best way to start the day (after a coffee and breakfast roll from the camp shop). Juggle, clown around and play in the open air; there’s always space to let the children run free.

Harvest Home Family Festival
We’ve teamed up with the local rotary club to host a family-friendly charity Harvest Home Festival on 1st to 3rd September 2023.
That means that the campsite is closed to normal bookings and open to festival goers. As well as an open-air cinema, live music, bar and food canteen, there will be free entry to our climbing tower, archery active arena, disc golf and many more activities.
More than half of tickets sold out just hours after they went on sale, so secure yours today! Buy Harvest Home festival tickets here.
