Are you planning a holiday to the Mendips? Why not camp this summer in the South West? We have the perfect site just outside of Bristol and Weston-super-Mare and close to Cheddar and Wells. Mendip Basecamp is a stunning location perfect for families to spend time together, relax, unwind and connect with nature throughout the summer.

Here are 8 reasons we think you’ll love us:
1 . Pitch Where You Like
Tents and campervans are welcome in our large campsite field in the Mendip Hills. We have no set pitches! This means you can camp where it suits you. Choose a quiet corner to observe the beauty of the Mendip Hills, pitch up by the ancient woodland, or perhaps join a group of friends who are already there. We’re a family-run and family-focused site so you can rest assured you’ll be surrounded by like-minded folk.
2. Free Entertainment for Young Children
Try a free Circus Skills session – a great activity for toddlers and younger children but also perfect for the whole family. Play around with a diablo, balance on stilts, and develop your juggling skills. This is a zero-cost activity outside the Pavilion, right next to our epic giant sandpit! Children love this wild play area with a sandpit, recycled canoes and rocks for scrambling.
3. Camp This Summer With Free Live Music
We offer some of the best live music in Somerset with acoustic artists, bands, guitars and singers. Mendip Lodge, just a 5-minute walk from the campsite, is our onsite cafe/bar and plays host to an outdoor festival-style stage, playing free live music during the weekend and mid-week. Who needs Glastonbury when you can join our chilled-out, festival atmosphere and be entertained by local, talented musicians? A brilliant summer event.
4. Over 20 Adventurous Activities
We’re not just a campsite! We’re nestled in the heart of an adventure and activity centre with over 20 activities for you to enjoy including Paddle Boarding, Air Rifle, Rock Climbing, Archery, Kayaking, Caving, Frisbee Golf and Tobogganing. You’re guaranteed to find something for everyone whatever their age. We strongly recommend booking in advance but there’s always something to do on arrival.

5. Campsite Fire Pits Encouraged
Fire pits are quite possibly the best part of camping and that’s why we encourage their use. Camp this summer and bring your own or rent one of ours. All you need to remember are the marshmallows….but if you do forget them, we’ve got them for sale at our well-stocked campsite shop!
6. Hearty Breakfast
We love breakfast so this year we’re selling hot breakfast rolls every morning in the Pavilion camp shop – bacon, sausage and plenty of veggie and vegan options too. If you book a bunkroom in our Lodge, we’ll provide you with a free continental breakfast every night of your holiday. If breakfast isn’t enough, we have an onsite restaurant with home-cooked meals.
7. No Tent, No Problem
If you don’t have a tent, our pre-pitched tents are for you. We’ve had an upgrade and this year you can rent a Nomadic Bell Tent or a Glamphouse Safari Tent. These tents sleep up to 6 people and are brilliant for those looking for a more luxurious camping experience. These are back-to-basic, with perfect accommodation for a well-deserved rest after your day of jam-packed adventuring!

8. No Check-Out Time
Not quite ready to go yet? Don’t fancy packing all your kit up in a mad rush? We know exactly how that feels, having spent years taking our children camping and so you’ll be relieved to hear we have no check-out time at Mendip Basecamp – and there’s no extra charge for this, keeping our prices affordable for all
