We have just returned from 5 days at Basecamp... simply LOVE IT!!! The kids loved it all. Relaxed, friendly and spotless campsite. Definitely recommend! We will be back next year for sure. The staff are friendly and always ready to help, they want to do a brilliant job and they really go the extra mile to help you feel welcome. Marta

Mendip Basecamp might be the best off-grid campsite in the whole of the UK. Set in stunning countryside with views for miles, close to all sorts of adventures like hiking, beaches, horseriding and golf, it is the perfect base for a family to explore - if you ever leave the campsite. The Pavilion is a hub for the campsite, with a charging station for devices (just in case), a well-priced camp shop so you can get your campfire essentials, and delicious tea and coffee available all day every day. Just a short walk through the ancient woodland is the Lodge, where you'll find breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as comfy sofas, a bar, and live music at the weekends. You'll want to check out the fire bowl and make smores (you can buy a smores kit at the bar). Slightly further down the hill is the Mendip Activity Centre. if you like being active and want to try some new things, then this is perfect - skiing, snowboarding and tobogganing on the dry slopes (with tuition if needed), or axe throwing, archery, and air rifle. Other activities include survival skills, caving, and all sorts of other things too! Kayaking and canoeing take place just off-site. Nikki

Yes probably one of the best local camp sites in the Bristol area… Easy to get a pitch online, plenty of space, great cafe/shop with food/ drinks, phone charging and general camping supplies, friendly staff. Showers and toilets and washing facilities are good. Pub down the hill with plenty of things to do in the surrounding area. Gary

Fantastic campsite in the Mendip Hills. Could not fault it. I love sites that work because they trust and respect campers to do the right thing. No list of rules when you arrive, common sense risk managed attitude to use of fires. Huge site but has plenty of room for everyone. Tons of things to do at reasonable prices. Jackie

The day we returned home I began looking online to try and squeeze another trip in before summer ends! We only stayed one night but had the best time and cannot wait to return for longer next time. Such an amazing campsite with great facilities. Phoe

Wow wow wow. Amazing. I just cannot believe they’ve thought of everything! The shop was great and not overpriced - containing everything but the kitchen sink. The facilities were Very clean and tidy and clearly thought about in terms of being efficient, practical and comfortable- not like many places. The showers were lovely. The lodge was great and music amazing!! Great food and even the dog was happy with doggy ice cream. Frisbee golf great fun. The team were amazing nothing too much trouble. It’s all about family and friends and having a great time!! Thank you thank you thank you. I am impressed and I am not a regular camper but would happily be converted if every stay was like this. Stars!!! Georgina

What an absolutely fabulous concept. Brilliant idea for families to spend time together off-grid and enjoy proper time together. superb facilities, staff and amenities. We loved every second and can't wait to return!! Well done team - fabulous to find something different and so well run not too far away from us! Tony

The most relaxing camping experience I’ve ever had! Everything is so thought through, from the relaxed atmosphere and being able to pitch where ever you want to the coffee and croissants freshly made every morning in the pavilion tent. The pavilion is in the camping field and has a well-stocked shop, Ice creams, cold drinks, hot drinks, fresh and frozen foods, as well as a freezer for cold blocks and a USB point for charging phones. The seating area is fantastic for a change from the tent, lots of people were using it for their morning coffee and pastries whilst watching the children play in the huge sandpit nearby! We walked down to the lodge for food which was fab and we also booked frisbee golf and air rifles in the activity centre. Their biggest asset is their staff! From the lady who welcomed us at base camp, to Ellie who ran the free craft session to Tom running the air rifles session had the best sense of humour and fun, they were fantastic and made our stay extra special! Staff on tills/ behind the bar were equally as fantastic, all smiley and helpful and lovely with our children. We loved every minute of our stay and despite only living 10 minutes down the road (!!) we have already booked to return in 2 weeks time! Amy

First time camping as a family, so was nervous about it as I’m not a camping person. From the second we arrived, we absolutely loved it and will be going back again next summer. Our children are 3 and 5 and made lots of friends. They loved the sand pit and shop, we booked to go tobogganing on site, we went to the on-site pub/restaurant which was so cosy we sat outside by the fire pit and enjoyed live music in the evening. Toilets and showers were spotless. Would highly recommend to all families and pets. Jennifer

Just the best. Everything there you need. Activity centre is great. Staff friendly and provide the necessary info. Quiet time after 10pm gives you time to rest and regroup...brilliant. Will be back. George
